Hi, I just joined this week and I was wondering if there is a annual meeting this summer like the one at Penny Farms last year?
MARGIE – AN EMAIL WAS SENT THIS AFTERNOON ABOUT THE ANNUAL MEETING ON AUGUST 25 IN PENNEY FARMS.
Just moved to Vero Beach from NH where I had blue bird houses. Interested in learning how to attract and provide a habitat for blue birds here. Thank you, Diana.
Hi Diana, Welcome to Florida!
(so sorry this reply was so delayed!) There are a lot of resources on our website. https://floridabluebirdsociety.org/ and you can follow us on FB: https://www.facebook.com/floridabluebirdsociety/
Also, some other sites are useful: http://www.sialis.org/ and http://www.nabluebirdsociety.org/
You may consider joining our organization and you’ll receive quarterly newsletters with a lot of news and stories about our Florida Bluebirds. Please also, let me know if you have any specific questions we can help you with.
Thank, you for your response. I’m going to follow up on the resources. I’m wondering if these Bluebirds are the same as in NH. I believe the Bluebirds out West are a little different. Have a nice night! Diana
North America is the only place you’ll find Bluebirds, and there are 3 species: Eastern, Mountain and Western. We have Eastern here and those are what you would find in NH. The way I remember is, of course by geography, but also the East and West are red, white and blue, and the Mountain (the one that has their range in the middle) is blue and white. Search for bluebird lower classifications. Or go here for a synopsis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluebird
